David Westbury Obituary

WESTBURY, David HARLEYVILLE, SC - David Edward Westbury, 50, of 660 West Main Street, Harleyville, died Saturday, January 28, 2006 in a Charleston Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11 am Tuesday in the Harleyville Southern Methodist Church with Rev. John Hucks, Haskell Parler, and Chris Sweatman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Welch, John Pendarvis, Dana Cumbie, Dennis Mizzell, Mark Edwins, and Carlysle Darden. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Official Board of the Harleyville Southern Methodist Church. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Monday evening at BRYANT FUNERAL HOME IN ST. GEORGE. Born May 9, 1955 in Summerville, Mr. Westbury was a son of Jefferson Hilton (Buster) Westbury and the late Virginia Fralix Westbury. He was a graduate of Mims Academy and had an associate's degree in business management from Ashworth College in Norcross, GA. He was a retired control room operator with Holcim Cement Company in Holly Hill. David was an active member of the Harleyville Southern Methodist Church where he was a charter member, on the Board of Stewards, secretary/treasurer of the Cartwright Men's Fellowship, and a member of the Young Adults Sunday School Class. He volunteered at the Dorchester Habitat for Humanity Homestore in Summerville. Surviving: his wife, Laura Eargle Westbury; daughters, Jessica Louise Westbury of Greenville and Deborah Erin Westbury of Clemson University and Harleyville; his father, Jefferson H. (Buster) Westbury; a sister, Louise W. and her husband Daniel F. Blanchard, Jr.; Brothers, Jefferson Lewis (Bill) Westbury and his wife, Nell, Daniel Howard Westbury and his wife Boogie, all of Harleyville; Robert Mitchell (Bobby) Westbury and his wife, Alice of Holly Hill. Memorials may be made to Harleyville Southern Methodist Church, P.O. Box 155, Harleyville, SC 29448 or Dorchester Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 1685, 1668 Old Trolley Road, Summerville, SC 29484.
