As a former student of his when he taught HS , I knew him differently, especially when we discussed English , his subject. My wife and I have visited him for the last 20 years or so, Had a great dinner with him in September, I'm happy that he gave us his blessing as we left , on the street , will always remember that place that spot when we get to Charleston. I'll never forget the man, as we said not bad for two guys from Philly. Pax Requiem, Bishop "T'.

It was an honor and a privilege to have Bishop Thompson on the staff of COK after his retirement. I was fortunate to speak with him prior to Saturday, 6 P.M. Mass. How special it was for me and my family to have him celebrate his last Mass in memory of my husband, Sidney, for our anniversary on Sunday. Thank you for your great 3- point homilies and thank you for making our Catholic faith so special. May you rest in peace.

I had the opportunity to spend several hours with Bishop Thompson on several different occasions as we rode from Charleston to Columbia to attend Cursillo events.
He was a gentle loving person, always interested in listening to what people had to say. His mantra was to lift up people and help them draw closer to God.
At 90 years of age, he shared with me his keen desire to stay busy for the Lord.
He always offered himself in Love to all those he contacted.
I will miss him — all of us will miss him.

To the family of Bishop David Thompson, may you blessed and comforted during this time of sorrow. For me Bishop Thompson came to my aid during my request for a age wavier to enter the Deacon Class of 2002. He approved my request. Since then I have served as a Deacon for the last 11 years. He is my hero and I shall pray for him and his family each day. He often asked those whom he taught to say one Hail Mary for him. Bishop, I will keep your request, enjoy your gift of eternal life.

To the family of Bishop Thompson, As a parishioner of COK, Mt. Pleasant for 14 years, my family and I can honestly tell you you that when we heard that He (Bishop Thompson) was officiating mass, our hearts jumped, we all looked at each other, smiled and knew that we were going to leave this church feeling uplifted, blessed and able to concor the week ahead with vigor!!! Aiways positive and always able to bring the message of Christ into our daily lives in such a contemporary way despite his age!
I know that there are no words to console you so I won't offer any. I will pray that your sorrow is tempered with the beautiful memories of his life and the anticipation of your reunion in heaven! Our sincerest condolances,
The Meier Family

How honored my family was to have known Bishop Thompson through Christ Our King. His Homilies always gave us lots to think and talk about after Mass while having breakfast at Alex's on Coleman Blvd. I feel blessed that my two children had so many opportunities to attend and participate in masses at Christ Our King with Retired Bishop Thompson presiding. We rejoice in knowing that he is with Our Heavenly Father after all of the wonderful acts of kindness and good will he showed all of us here on Earth. Love, Kim, Nicholas, and Suzanne Ciuffo
