David Strauss Obituary

David Irwin Strauss Charleston - David Irwin Strauss died peacefully on September 30, 2022 at the age of 75 after a short illness. His beloved parents, Abraham and Sylvia Strauss, preceded him in death. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania in November, 1946, David spent most of his childhood in Augusta, Georgia. He matriculated to the University of Georgia, where he met the love of his life, Michelle Greenbaum, during the first week of school. They married shortly afterwards and recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. After graduating with a degree in Journalism, David received his M.B.A. from Michigan State University and began a successful career as an Advertising Executive with Tatham-Laird, Kudner in Chicago. He was later a Senior Account Executive at agencies J. Walter Thompson (Chicago), Henderson Advertising (Greenville, SC) and Bozell, Jacobs, Kenyon & Eckhardt (Atlanta and Washington D.C.). During his career, he represented National Brands such as Kraft Foods, Valvoline, Chloraseptic, and Glass Plus, overseeing the creative and strategic direction for some of their memorable ad campaigns and jingles like "K-R-A-F-T" and "Chlor-aaahhhh-septic." He also led pro-bono campaigns for the Greenville Zoo and the United States Holocaust Museum. After retiring, David enjoyed traveling with Michelle, writing, cooking, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Michelle; his son, Brandon Strauss (Lisa), Charleston; his daughter, Eve Yeater (John), Alpharetta, Georgia; and his grandchildren, Jackson Yeater and Jordan Yeater (Alpharetta), and Frederica Strauss (Charleston). He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Sherry) of Los Angeles, California. A Celebration of Life will be held later this year. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation at www.crohnscolitisfoundation.org. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
