Daniel Terrizzi Obituary
An ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) diagnosis in 2004 did not keep Dan Terrizzi from living life his way. Dan walked away from his doctor's announcement of certain death determined to experience the positive aspects ahead and leave negative influences behind. A settled resident of Arlington, VA, Dan met Joy, his true love and inspiration, to share his dreams. Together, along with family and friends, he travelled, enjoyed unique food experiences and followed his heart, exploring new adventures. He continued his passion for writing, creating and inventing. His books and campaigns for ALS and other illnesses, along with developing gadgets for independent living, satisfied his creative thirst and inspired others. Though long confined to a wheelchair, Dan continued his work. A recent long hospitalization halted his progress permanently. Dan was forever grateful to his mother and father (Nancy and Bob), family, relatives, friends, and especially Joy, for supporting his dreams and wishes.
Dan was born on December 27, 1962 in Wilmington, DE. He attended John Dickinson High School and was a graduate of West Virginia University. Prior to his illness, Dan was employed as a senior writer - creative director with an advertising agency in Georgetown, Washington, D.C.
Dan is survived by his parents, Robert and Nancy Terrizzi of Hockessin; brother, Matthew Terrizzi of Wilmington; sister, Lynn Rooke, brother-in-law, Steve Rooke, and nephew and niece, Nathan and Olivia Rooke of San Jose, CA; Joy Carroll of Arlington, VA; and many loving relatives and friends.
The visitation will be held at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington on Friday, October 25 from 9:00-10:00AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dan may be made to Howard I. Abrams In-Home Care Program, 321 Norristown Road, Suite 260, Ambler, PA 19002 or the ALS Hope Foundation, 1333 Race Street, Suite 201, PO Box 40777, Philadelphia, PA 19107.

Dan was the best man in my wedding, he was my friend, and he was full of life.
Many years went by where Dan and I drifted apart. Last year we got reconnected. Thank the Lord we did.
I was glad to get his crazy emails.
I loved his humor, his heart and passion for life. Dan - I will never forget you. Thank you Nancy for talking with me so much. So sorry

I found out yesterday of Danny's death and I am so sorry to have heard of the news. I was just reading all the beautiful messages, memories and thoughts that everyone has written about him and they are also the Danny i knew growing up in Maplecrest. My bestest friend Lynn's little brother. What a great tribute to a man who I will always remember as kind, considerate and respectful of others. I can only imagine your loss but I know that his life was one filled with love of his family and friends. I will always remember him with great fondness.

I didn't know Dan, but I know Joy and I am sure that if he was a special part of her life, then he must have been a truly amazing person, with a hearty spirit and a zest for life. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Danny was not only my cousin, but a friend and an incredible person. We had many fun times in Wilmington and when I moved to Florida, he was one of my favorite guests. He became friends of my husband Steve, also. We will miss him and pray for his family and friends during this time of loss. May you receive comfort from the Lord, the God of all comfort.

Wilmington DE - I spent many weekends playing football and disc golf with Dan. So much fun and laughter... Dan was one of the good ones no doubt. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Terribly sorry to hear of Dan's passing. He was a wonderful, popular guy to be around and as generous as they come.
Many years ago Dan took me under his wing during a tough period in my life. He introduced me to a very special group of his many friends and made me feel included in that circle. If it were not for Dan, I would not have met the love of my life.
For all of those things I will be forever grateful, and Dan will be remembered with great fondness.
