Clyde Jarrell Obituary

Clyde "Nig" Jarrell, Jr. HAMPTON - Mr. Clyde "Nig" Jarrell, Jr., 79, of Locust Street in Hampton, SC died Saturday afternoon June 8, 2013 in the Hampton Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. Born December 2, 1933 in Hampton County he was the son of the late William Clyde Jarrell, Sr. and Annie Chesser Jarrell. Mr. Jarrell served his country in the South Carolina National Guard for 42 years, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 4; he retired from Westinghouse Corp. after 40 years as a Lab Technician, and was a member of the Hampton Fire Department for 20 years. Mr. Jarrell was a member of Hampton Primitive Baptist Church and the Hampton County N. C. O. Club. Survivors include his wife of the home, Mary Ann Sullivan Jarrell, two sons: Billy Jarrell and wife Nancy and Jeffery Jarrell and wife Elaine, both of Brunson, SC, one daughter, Jen J. DeLoach and husband Curtis of Varnville, SC, three brothers: George E. "Sonny" Jarrell and wife Norma and Laverne "Tuda" Jarrell and wife Linda both of Hampton, SC, and William Francis Jarrell and wife Polly of Theodore, AL, one sister, Linda Ann Shaffer and husband Ralph of Hampton, SC, seven grandchildren: Bucky, Seth, and Scott Jarrell, Tripp DeLoach, Nikki Hudson, Allyson Rivers, and Marllie DeLoach. There are six great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one grandchild, Renee Simmons. Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday June 11, 2013 at 11 A.M. in the Johnson-St. Paul Cemetery conducted by Elder Robert Dobson and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home located at 300 Mulberry St. West, Hampton, SC 29924 (803-943-3352) on Monday evening from 5 to 7 P.M. A visitation will be held Tuesday morning beginning at 10 A.M. in the Hampton Primitive Baptist Church prior to the service at the cemetery.
