Christine Todd Harris
Charleston - Christine "Tina" Todd Harris, 78, was killed across the street from her home in Charleston, SC on December 15, 2025. Tina was born in 1947 in New York City to Dr. Henry F. Harris, a physician and WWII Veteran, and Mrs. Jean M. Harris, a Broadway actress and homemaker. Raised in Rye, NY, Tina graduated from the Knox School on Long Island where she excelled as a member of the equestrian team. She received both her BA and MA degrees in English from Sarah Lawrence College.
While on a morning walk to purchase groceries, Tina was struck and killed by a reckless driver across the street from Joseph Floyd Manor, where she had been a resident for more than 40 years. Tina struggled with mental health issues all her life, but was able to find stability, independence, and contentment in Charleston. She staunchly preferred her own company and was an avid reader, art appreciator, animal lover, and meticulous rule-follower. While she prefered a spartan lifestyle, she surrounded herself with classic literature, art supplies, and a well curated collection of vintage L.L. Bean apparel.
Tina was predeceased by her parents and her cat, Archie. She is survived by her brother, Steven C. Harris, and his wife, Catherine Hall (Saratoga Springs, NY); her nephew S. Carter Harris (Seattle, WA); and her niece Ainsley Harris (Brooklyn, NY). The family would like to thank the residents and staff at Joseph Floyd Manor for providing Tina with the level of community she would tolerate.
