Not sure what to say?

First off I want to convey my deepest sympathies to Chris' wife, family and friends. I know he will be missed Greatly.
I can not tell you how shocked and saddend I was to hear that Chris had passed away.
I, like many others was fortunate enough to meet Chris at Sam's Optical.
He always had THE best attitude. He could be swamped yet he'd still offer you a smile and Make you feel as if you were the most important customer there. I feel he did that for each and every person. He had a remarkable way about him. I always looked forward to seeing him... His smile and attitude could brighten any day.
He will be missed!
Again My deepest sympathies.

Dear Loved Ones of Chris,
I know you were not ready to say Goodbye! I know he will be missed beyond words. Loss is an indescribable feeling. And I am very sorry for your loss. I hope that reading how i knew Chris helps ease your sadness in time.
I met Chris at his work he helped me several times with finding just the right pair of eyeglasses for me. Some people would think of me as "a pain in the rear customer" but
not Chris he always greeted me with a smile and was happy to help me in any way. He sent my eyeglass back over and over again and i cant count how many times he fixed them for me or just cleaned them for me when i came into the store. I knew that he believed and worked for a much higher boss than at Sam's Club or even here on earth. We never spoke about God to each other i just knew by his spirit that he is a Christian. The last time we spoke I asked him what was he going to
give his wife for Mothers Day? He leaned back in his chair and put his hand around his chin and thinking then he asked me what did i have in mind? And i told him i had the cutest tiny black poodle he could give to her. He thought that
was a great idea so he gave me his email & phone number to send him pictures of the puppy to him. That was the last time i saw him smiling.
I sent the pictures of her to him and he responded with "that it would be a big responsibility." And he was going out of town and would see me when my glasses came back to the store and were ready for me to pick them up. That was the last time i heard from him. I heard from a co-worker that he was in the hospital. I started praying right
away for Chris, his wife and family. I prayed for all of you day and night. It is comforting to know He is smiling down on all of us. It was a pleasure knowing him. And during stressful, challenging times to ask ourselves "what would Chris do? what would he say? how would he treat a customer or anyone he met?
God Bless all of you! Myra K. Walz

Chris was an amazing young man. We met him at Sam's Optical and trusted him to take good care of our famiy and recommended him to all our friends. They were all impressed with him. Chris made everyone he met feel like a friend. It's possible that he did change the world. It was a blessing to know him. He will be missed by everyone he met in this life. Your family has been in our prayers.

Everlasting Moments w/ Best Friend

Many times in life we take for granted the little things, small moments and memories we create. We create friends and meet new people through the years. Many friends come and go, however, some stay leaving footprints on our hearts that can never be erased. Chris, we traveled over the years to see the world, we brainstormed daily to create the businesses we BOTH have, we held hands as we were always determined to be Successful Brothers of tomorrow. There was never a time that you said NO or could help not me through a time of crisis. You were a brother, a friend and even a business partner every step of the way.

As brothers and most importantly, as your BEST friend, you were a priority. That’s why I’ve always planned ALL of vacations since the day you got married. Chris, we talked endlessly about any and everything anytime of the day. Chris, as usual I planned your annual cruise a few weeks ago… However, this was not just any cruise; however it was a special sailing. Out of the many cruises I’ve planned for you, I never knew our last cruise together would come so soon.

Now I understand why you questioned me about being on this particular cruise in the middle of my busy season. This was the first time and what is now the last time I enjoyed the same sailing with my BEST friend. I witnessed that you were happy & I know you were enjoying some of the best days and nights of your life. Looking back now, if I only knew how important these last moments would be with you.

Chris, from our youngest years at Stiles Point, to our 1st job at James Island County Park, to Splash Zone, to college, to our businesses, our brotherhood, and more importantly, you were always by my side. In life we tend to forget about little things. From our 1st pager to 1st cell phone to our baseball jersey’s from the mall to our 1st business together and even the chains and charms you wore so religiously. Even though these things may seem so small, they are indeed some the most popular memories we’ve had together.

You were happy; we were happy. We were indeed brothers that connected on so many levels. Even though you’re gone now, I know our work is not done. We BOTH had dreams, they were always BIG and I promised you that if anything would ever happen WE would continue making our dreams come true. Our businesses, visions for our community and our spiritual love for one another will never die. Even though traveling worldwide with tour operators & Norwegian Cruise Line I promised I will never forget where home was… Every time CP I step onboard the any ship for work or pleasure…I will be sure to spend one evening to watch the SUNSET in memory of my boy Chris. By the way, I told your mom, Happy Mothers Day for you!
Chris Pinckney, Chris Richardson, and D’Antoni Pendergrass will always be the
“Three Successful Brothers” of tomorrow….
(By the Chris Richardson graduated from Law School when we were on our cruise….)
Love Always

Your BEST FRIEND, Brother, Business Partner
D’Antoni “D”

Chris Pinckney was one of a kind. Strong, passionate, warm, and loving, I remember growing up with him and admiring him. Here was a powerful African-American boy who became a man before my eyes who worked harder than anyone I knew. I saw him from our earliest days in elementary school where teachers would praise him for being so smart yet warm and funny. I saw him on until high school where as Vice President of the Future Business Leaders of America, Chris strived to be a symbol to all African-American young men of what hard work and dedication could do. In so many ways, we all wanted to be like Chris.

Chris was beloved by any and everyone who came into his presence. Chris and I rode the same buses as children, ran through the same fields on Sol Legare, and both shared a desire and commitment to change. Chris and I in high school would often talk about how he and I were going to change the world and show everyone that as young black men, we were more than what they said about us on TV. Chris was more than that and he was more than that to us all.

Few in this life understand empathy, but for Chris, he lived everyday understanding and sharing with each and every person who crossed his path. He and I shared that trait and I firmly believe we got it from our mothers. Ultimately, Chris and I got along so well because we were both admittedly “momma’s boys” and proud of it. Chris never forgot where he came from and never forgot his mother. He always talked about her even as a young boy because she had such an impact on his life.

Often, when we rode the bus together from Sol Legare to Stiles Point in the mornings or in the afternoon, Chris and I would talk about our lives, our dreams, and our goals. Chris was one of the smartest individuals I knew and I was always amazed by his visions for the community. Here were two fifth graders on a bus and Chris Pinckney already knew what he wanted and how he was going to fight for a better world. He was exceptional and few could match him academically.

He was a living example to us all of what we should all strive to be. Though he is gone, he will live on in our hearts and D’Antoni, I, and others, will fight from this day on to show the world what Chris wanted to the show the world: That we as black men are more than the sum of everyone’s fears, but that we as a people are strong, confident, and proud. I remember in elementary school, our 4th grade teacher once commented that Chris Pinckney would someday be our President. I always believed he would, but Chris was already President in my heart back then and given what a fine man he grew up to be, he always will be. Chris may be gone, but he will never be forgotten. He will on in the hearts of us all until we meet again.
Love, CHRIS RICHARDSON & DANTONI PENDERGRASS

I miss you my BEST friend...you are so dear.
Even though you are not near.
I carry you within my heart.
And I know that we will never part.
You're special to me... that much is true.
Without you, I wouldn’t know what to do.
I depended on you and you on me.
You were AS TRUE as friends could ever be.
I wish we were together... that would be such fun.
We would talk for hours and never be done.
One day we will meet ...It has to be so.
I would go anywhere for you ... no matter were I had to go.
You're more than my friend...you're my bro.
And I know this much ....I will always love you so.
D’ANTONI

May you rest in peace…

I knew you all only for a short time. However, the love between a wife and her husband, a mother and father and thier daughter and son in law, a mother and her son, a father and his son, a brother and his brother was so apparent to me in the moments we were together. May you find comfort in those bonds. Your memories of a fine young man will last forever. God Bless you all.

To the Pinckney Family:
There are no words to describe the pain you all are or may be feeling. I pray that you continue to keep your hands in God's hand and allow him to comfort you during these trying times. Chris was a good young man and the way he lived his life is a reflection of his upbringing. You all should be proud of him and be comforted knowing that he is now in a better place. May God continue to bless you all...

I first met Chris when we were both Beaux Candidates in the 1998-1999 Beaux Affair in Charleston, SC. He was one of the jokesters of our group, and always made everyone laugh! But what I will remember most about him will not only be his smile and jokes, but also our talks of the future, with him going to and finishing optometry school and myself in dental school. My condolences to The Pinkney Family. He will be missed greatly.

Chris shared great times of fun and laughter with us during his tenure at the College of Charleston. He was always so debonair, suave, easygoing, hardworking, and gentlemanlike. I always knew he was destined for greatness because of his ambitious nature. This is a tremendous loss for us (SPECTRA '99-CofC), and even moreso for you; however, he is a tremendous gain for God! "For to live is Christ, but to die is gain". My prayers are certainly with you and may your memories of him be vivid and loving that he'll ever present with you!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I had the pleasure and honor of knowing Chris in his early years. He always appeared to be a very respectful and kind young man. I know he will be missed by both young and old alike. I pray that God continues to put his loving arms and protection around each of you as you go through this period in your lives.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

May the family find comfort in the assurance Jehovah gives us at Isaiah 25:8 that He will swallow up death and wipe tears from all faces. I am your christian sister in the Georegtown Congregation of Jehovah's Witness. I didnot know Chris , but learn of his death through Shelite"s aunt who works with me. I will keep the family in prayer. We will look forward to welcoming Chris back in the paradise earth that Jehovah has promised.

I would like to express my greatest condolences to the family of Chris Pinckney. Right now, it's so hard to understand why such a wonderful person had to "pass away" at such a young age. However, GOD has one of his best angels looking down on us from Heaven! I was Chris's classmate c/o 99 at James Island High School and the most memborable thing about him was his kind hearted spirit and how much he was well liked. I will never forget him!

To the Family and to Sammie and Emily:

This is probably one of the saddest day for you but I want to share with you a word of comfort. Know that Chris was a beautiful person who loved the Lord and I believe he would say this to a family who have lost a loved one, "I am praying your strength in the Lord that you may know that He is forever present doing what he does best for his children". I will keep you lifted up in prayers and in my daily thoughts. God be with you.

I met Chris through his work at Sam's Club. He was a remarkably kind, friendly, caring and responsible young man for his age. I will think of him every time I enter the store, because he was always ready to smile and wave as I passed by. Because of my occupation, I knew how highly he thought of his wife and mother, and how he was already making plans for the future. He will be sorely missed by everyone with whom he came in contact. I send my most sincere sympathies to Sakeena and to Chris's family members.
