Charles Lawrence (Larry) Welborn CHARLESTON - Charles Lawrence (Larry) Welborn, age 65, died peacefully on August 24, 2024. Larry was born in Charleston on January 30, 1959, to William A and Margaret Forsberg Welborn. Larry grew up in West Ashley, attended public schools and graduated from Middleton High School. In his early years Larry was a talented athlete participating in playground ball, parochial basketball and spent many Sundays playing half rubber at the old Winn Dixie "ballfield". Larry was a welder by trade, skilled in structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication and at one point in time, worked in just about every shipyard, plant and fab shop in the area. In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by his wife, Susan Harris Welborn; three brothers, Thomas H Welborn, Nolan Paul Welborn and Henry F Welborn; and one grandson, Kamen Welborn. Larry is survived by his sister, Sandra Welborn Renzy; and three brothers, William E Billy Welborn, Lloyd G Welborn, Mark H Welborn; two sons, Charles L Welborn Jr. (Chuck) and Matthew Welborn; and four grandchildren.
