Charles Hipp Obituary

Charles Rucker Hipp, Jr. MT. PLEASANT - Entered into eternal rest on the morning of February 10, 2010, Charles Rucker Hipp, Jr., husband of Jan Vlach Hipp. Residence, Mt. Pleasant, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Hipp, Jr. are invited to attend the service of celebration of his life on Monday, February 15, 2010, at 10 a.m., at St. Andrews Church, Mt. Pleasant, SC. The interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit Sunday, February 14, 2010, from 4-7 p.m., at St. Andrews. Charley was born March 14, 1947 in Durham, NC, the son of the late Charles R. Hipp and Delia Joyce Preston Hipp. He was a partner with his brother Preston in Hipp Properties, a commercial real estate development company. Previously he owned and operated C.R. Hipp, Inc., a local mechanical contracting business. Charley was a graduate of Gaud School in Charleston and Clemson University with a degree in Building Sciences. Most importantly, Charley loved the Lord and was very involved at St. Andrews where he served as Senior Warden and Life Group Leader. He was active in many service projects throughout the city. Charley served as president of the Mechanical Contractors Association. He is survived by his wife of almost 30 years and his granddaughter, Mercury Virginia Hipp; his daughters: Shea Kuhn and husband John and grandchildren Madeline, Philip and Louisa, Heather Hann and husband Matthew; his son, Charles R. Hipp, III; brother, Preston Hipp and his wife Laura; sister, Dee Pridgen. He was predeceased by his sister, Bonney and his brother-in-law, Bill Pridgen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrews Church, 440 Whilden St., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. Charlie and I were roommates and fraternitiy brothers at Clemson and one thing that I vividly remember was that Charlie would read his Bible every night before turning out the lights- He will be missed by all whom he touched at Clemson and especially by his Numeral Society brothers.

Hudson cousins in North Carolina send love to the whole Hipp family on this sad loss. We will always remember Charley's generous spirit, his wonderful laugh, and his love of family.
