Charles Emory Obituary

Charles Irwin Emory, 68, of St. Stephen, SC, a retired millwright, passed away Tuesday morning in a Charleston hospital.

Mr. Emory was born January 11, 1957, in Moncks Corner, SC, a son of Charles W. Emory and Barbara Guerry Emory. He was of the Baptist faith. Throughout his life, he was known for his steady work ethic and his love of the outdoors. An avid golfer, he could often be found on the course enjoying a good round with friends. He also enjoyed fishing, and in earlier years, he liked camping trips that brought him closer to nature. During high school and his younger days, he was active in sports, especially basketball and baseball. A loyal Carolina Gamecocks fan, Mr. Emory rarely missed a chance to cheer on his team.

Surviving are his sister, Debbie Emory of St. Stephen; two brothers, Roland "Rooster" Emory and James "Peanut" Emory, both of St. Stephen; two half brothers, Scott Harloff of Florida and Brian Rush of North Dakota; a niece and nephew, Whitney Cooper and her husband Lance, and Ryan Emory; several great-nephews, Lucas Emory, Wyatt Cooper, Elijah Cooper, and Jonah Cooper; and his best friend, Al Browder of Summerville.

Mr. Emory's funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 8, 2026, in the Chapel of Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until the hour of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 576, St. Stephen, SC 29479.
