Charles Bussey Obituary

Mr. Bussey was a great mentor during my employment at Ruston , La. glass plant.

Joyce, Dale and I are just now finding out of Charlie's passing last April. We are so very sorry. Dale and I so appreciated your opened arms when we moved to Greenville and started attending First Baptist. Thank you for the many Christmas cards and pics through the years. We will always hold a special place in our hearts for you both...and I will continue to so lovingly think of y'all while watching your Clemson Tigers play. Praying for you, your girls, and their families and sending lots of love your way.

Ms. Bussey and family,
I have just learned of the passing of Charlie. I have served on the letterwinners board for a number of years and am shocked to learn of his death. He was such a kind, fair, and professional man. I am so saddened to learn of his death. I am sure you know that he was loved and cherished by so many! It was my honor to know him and work with him on the Letterwinners board. He was such an example to so many. My thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

Joyce, It was great to see you, the girls, and their families on Tuesday, though the circumstances were not the best. I always looked forward to the time in the summer when we shared time at Grandmother's house. Let's all keep in touch. Family time is very important and in many cases seems to be slipping away today. I love all of you and hope we stay close.

I was a student worker and athlete (La Tech Powerlifting Team) for the athletic department at Louisiana Tech during his tenure there. I am glad I was able to work with this man. He taught me a lot about patience. May he rest in peace! Great man!

Mr. Bussey gave me my first job at Laurens Glass, Ruston, La. He was a great man and I am sure he will be missed. He meant a lot to me and I respected very much. God Bless

I worked at the former Laurens Glass Plant in Ruston for 26 years. Although Mr. Bussey was no longer the Plant Manager at the time I was employed, many employees related fond memories of him. Due to his and others dedication and hard work in the early years, the plant is still there and now employs 2nd and 3rd generation workers.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on your loss. Prayers for comfort as you lay your loved one to rest.

We were certainly saddened to hear of the passing of our friend and a great Tiger. Charlie was always friendly to everyone he met and always had that winning smile. He will be missed at Clemson and will long be remembered as a great Tiger. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Joyce and the rest of the family in your sorrow.

I want to express my sympathy to family and friends who grieve the death of Charlie. I also am deeply saddened over this death of an old friend, our friendship having begun as Clemson students. Time and distance prevented a close friendship; nevertheless we have through the years shared significant mutual interests and enjoyed occasional personal encounters. Pam so sorry to hear of the death of your father. He was so supportive to us a year and a half ago when my father passed away. Apparently they went to school together and were pretty good friends. You and I went to Clemson at the same time . I'm not sure if you remember me but I always remember you as being a very sweet young lady. My dad said your dad was just the kindest man he ever knew and my husband also worked with him (he did photography fo Batson) when your worked for Louis P Batson. Most recently he wrote a recommendation for my son for a job at Clemson. Although I didn't know him personally, I believe he was a truly great man. What an I say? I was a Clemson Letter winner from the early 80s. I new Charlie far better than he new me, but he always greeted me as if I were Jeff Davis or Joe Bostic. For me Charlie represented Clemson as much as Rhodes Hall or Tillman. You are in my prayers and I trust that the Love of thousands of Clemson Faithfully can provide a small measure of joy in the midst of your grief.

I had the privilege of working with Charlie at Batson. He had a smile on his face every day and his positivity was infectious. Charlie made everyone he met a better person for the experience. Even after all these years, I remember how kind he was to everyone. I've always felt that Charlie was the man that every parent wants their child to grow up to be, the kind of man every woman wants to marry, and the kind of man every child wants for a parent. joyce and family, my heart is truly saddened by the home going of one so precious, Charlie. He was certainly the epitome of the man (woman) God expects all of us to be. Always kind and so gracious to all he came in contact with on whatever level. Of course his mischievous spirit was ever present. We shared many conversations from our baseball seats where we became friends over the years. Please know that my prayers are with each of you. Heaven has a brand new angel today and I'd be willing to bet he's wearing clemson colors.

Dearest Joyce & Family,

It is with a heavy heart that I write these words. You and Charlie shared so much of yourselves with Smith and me, and Charlie was so generous with his time and friendship as Smith slowly lost his health. I have always wondered how Charlie had the time and energy to give to so many, so much of himself. I can only think of what a wonderful world this would be if it was filled with more people like Charlie Bussey. The CU community will miss that Clemson Spirit that never flamed out. I know that each of you who treasured his love and support will miss his presence so terribly much. You will also be comforted by the outpouring of appreciation and admiration that so many will share with you. In spirit, I send you all my comforting love and my enduring remembrance of a man who lead a life that most can only hope to emulate. My children also send their condolences and their remembrance of his graciousness and generosity when Smith died.

We share in the families sorrow at the loss of a wonderful Clemson Man. The warm smile, cheerful hello, Clemson spirit will be missed.

Joyce, I was so sorry to hear of Charlie's home going. He was a special cousin who I looked
up to and always Looked forward to seeing. So many memories came flooding into
my mind when I heard the
news. I know he is well now and enjoying being in heaven with Jesus and all our relatives.

What a joyous time they are all having. He will surely be missed here.

Charlie positively Influenced people he came in contact with, no matter their age.
My daughter, current Clemson senior called me with sadness in her voice to share the news that "Mr. Bussey", had gone home to Glory, now watching us from a place the bible identifies as "the great cloud of witnesses".

I was very sorry to hear of Mr. Bussey passing. I was a freind of Jennie's in college. Mr. Bussey was so very nice to me every time I met him. I greatly appreciated that. Prayers for all the family From David and Varina Clayton.

Charlie was a great man! A true ambassador for Clemson University. I had the pleasure of getting to know Charlie during my playing days at Clemson and thereafter through the Tiger Letterwinners Association. I was a student manager for the football team when Charlie entered Clemson. We became close friends over the time at Clemson. He was a superb Christian in all aspects of his life. I will surely miss him at church, around the Downs, and at letterwinners functions. My prayers are for Joyce and the entire family. Earl Herndon

Charlie was a Tiger through and through. I had the great blessing of working with him on the Tiger Letterwinner's Board.
