Cecilia Chimento Obituary

Cecilia Farmer Chimento MT. PLEASANT - Cecilia Farmer Chimento (Ceil), 89, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away peacefully at home on June 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving children and devoted husband, who cared for her at home during her many years with alzheimers. Ceil was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 26, 1935 to Claude and Annie Farmer. After her mother's death in 1937, she spent her formative years in boarding school until she graduated Ursuline Academy. Ceil thought her future was with the Ursuline Sisters, but after graduation she moved to Charleston, where she met the man who changed the course of her life. Ceil is survived by her husband of 66 years, Thomas M. Chimento, Sr., her sister, Claudette Victoria, her friend and sister-in-law, Peggy Farmer, her six children, Robert L. Chimento, Barbara Chimento Mays (Kieran), Thomas M. Chimento, Jr. (Rochelle), Teresa Smith, Mary Chimento Zard (Michael), and Francis Chimento, her 7 grandchildren, Caroline, Cecilia, Logan, Frankie, John Thomas, Paul, and Michael, and her 4 great-grandchildren, Dominic, Laela, Donovan, and Liam, and her many nieces and nephews who brought her great joy. Ceil was preceded in death by her parents, 9 brothers, 2 sisters, son, Christopher Claude Chimento, and grandson, Christopher Thomas Chimento. Our sweet, little mama was loved by many, Ceil was strong and stern when needed but always loving and caring. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She lived her life devoted to her faith in God. She cared for the poor and the hungry, and spent many years serving the poor with the Missionaries of Charity founded by Mother Teresa. Ceil gave wholeheartedly to the poorest of the poor. Ceil was a 3rd grade teacher at Christ Our King School for many years. She was a talented artist, a daycare owner, and a shop owner. She was a master gardener, a pianist, and an amazing cook. She never used a recipe or a measuring cup, but her concoctions were delicious. Ceil was a devoted parishioner at St. Benedict Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir and performed a solo of Ave Maria. Ceil was full of love and laughter. She put her whole heart into her family and her love of God. She always carried a rosary in her pocket and her religious medals and scapular hung around her neck. She always had extra rosaries to give to children while encouraging them to pray. A Mass of Christian Burial and Interment will be held on June 26, 2025 at 11am at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 950 Darrell Creek Trail, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29466. A reception will be held after interment at the church. Memorial donations can be made in Ceil's memory to St. Benedict Church Building Fund or to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.

Sharing in your sorrow with love and friendship. Mrs. Chimento was a wonderful kind woman who raised all her children to be the exact same way.
