Carolyn McAlister Obituary

Carolyn Kent "Sissie" Snow McAlister Hemingway - Sissie McAlister, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 in Mt. Pleasant, SC. She was born on December 19, 1929 in Hemingway, SC to the late John James Snow, Jr. and Louise Poston Snow. She is the widow of Charles Betts McAlister, Jr. Sissie graduated from Hemingway High School, attended Columbia College and graduated from Converse College. She was a homemaker and worked in the business office for Growers Big 4 Tobacco Warehouse. She was a member of the Hemingway First United Methodist Church, serving as financial secretary for 40 years. Sissie was a founding member of the Hemingway Bar-B-Que Shag festival, a Girl Scout leader, member of the Pee Dee Girl Scout Council, Hemingway High School Booster Club, and the Three Rivers Historical Society. Surviving are her daughters, Kim McAlister Card, Jayne McAlister (Dan) Traurig, and Evie McAlister (Grady) Woods; her twin brother, John James (Bubber) Snow, III; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be April 24th at 3:00 p.m. at Hemingway First United Methodist Church, preceded by a viewing at 1:30 p.m. The family will receive friends after the service at the church Fellowship Hall.
