Carolina Best Obituary

Carolina Best Bonneau, SC - Erma Carolina Railey Best, 73, of Bonneau, SC, a retired communications specialist with Charleston County EMS, died Friday afternoon in a local hospital. Her funeral will be 4:00 PM Monday afternoon, July 24, 2017, in the CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Interment will be held at a later date in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:30 PM until the hour of service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the St. Stephen United Methodist Church, PO Box 278, St. Stephen, SC 29479. Mrs. Best was born August 26, 1943, in Columbia, SC, the daughter of George L. Railey and Elizabeth Taylor Railey. She was a graduate of Dentsville High School and attended St. Stephen United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Boone, NC, and dearly loved Bonneau Beach. Mrs. Best liked cooking and gardening, but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs.Best was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Railey. Surviving are her husband, Major Joseph "Joe" Arthur Best, Sr.; three sons, Joseph Best, Jr., of Ridgeland, L. Scott Best, of Charleston, and George Anthony Best and his wife, Claire, of Greenville; two brothers, George Larry Railey of Columbia, and Ronnie Railey, of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren, Joseph A. Best, III, Amber Best Thompson, and Elizabeth Best; three great grandchildren, Alyssa Best, Joseph A. Best, IV, and Lilith Thompson; a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Best of Bonneau; and her dog, Pistol.
