Carol Costas Obituary

Carol Ann Costas CHARLESTON - Carol A. Costas, 86, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Victor Jose Costas, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, July 2, 2024. Her funeral service will be held at a later date in Puerto Rico. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel. Carol was born July 25, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of the late Charles Ferraro and Ida Sorgi. She was a founding member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW-Puerto Rico Chapter). Carol devoted her life to rescuing animals in Puerto Rico. Carol is survived by her daughter, Gianna Maria Costas-Melnik (Stephen Michael) of Charleston, SC; son, Juan Carlos Costas of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico; granddaughter, Andrea Catalina Melnik of Charleston, SC; brother, Gary Paul Ferraro (Lorne Lassiter) of Charlotte, NC; and loved nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to: Murray Center for Parkinson's Disease and Related Disorders "MUSC" , 18 Bee Street, MSC 450, Charleston, SC 29425. MUSC Foundation Giving to MUSC Foundation; (843) 792-2677. Carol is our friend from Rock Steady Boxing. We always enjoyed talking to Carol before Rock Steady Boxing. Loved her stories. Always upbeat and funny. A pleasure to have known her. She will be missed. We are sorry for your loss.
