Mr Boone was a gentle Giant who contributed so very much to historic Charleston! Not the least of which was his Family´s work at the ACBA and is honing into a fellow Giant, Gedney Howe!

Dad,
My life was changed forever, the day you went home with the Lord. I know you are pain free, responsibilities as a father is over, your protective ways of a husband has been released. But, but, but,
you are still missed and loved each day.
I am so grateful each day for being chosen as your daughter and cherish your forever love for your family.
Your works as a contractor lives on through so many, with standing architectural designs, The American College of Building and Arts and the persons that hold you in high esteem.
There is not a week that does not go by that someone reflects of the good times and share their experiences with you.
One day we all will be together again, and I do believe that you and Mother are still watching over us.
My fourth of July will never be celebrated the same.
Rest well, my eternal Love is with you forever as your daughter,
Teresa

Another wise man and the leader of the Arts and Crafts Movement in England passed away one morning a century or more ago. His helper soon saw and advised the Prime Minister that the well-respected man had died. But the Prime Minister immediately disagreed, wouldn't hear of it, saying emphatically ( as with our friend Carl Boone), "He did not die at all! He lives on in the hearts and minds of every man and every woman who knew him. And he will to the end of time." That would be most welcome as we will not be so fortunate as to see again a man as unique as Carl Boone.
Indeed Carl was as fine and caring a man as ever lived in this lovely old city he did so much to restore, the 'right' way. He delighted us with his amusing stories, brightening our lives on each meeting with his special mix of kindness, courtesy, and wisdom, and humility. And that smile. There was, as 'Big Gedney' Howe used to exclaim, "No possible way to improve on it."
My prayers are with you Ora Lee and to your and Carl's good family.
With deepest sympathies,
Leonard L. Long,Jr.

Mother Boone, Teresa and Kenny, I sat with Mr. Boone aka Daddy-O for more than an hour back in January and as always he shared words of wisdom and he gave me some good advice. He was always a great father and mentor to all of us that grew-up at 5 Glenwood. So sorry I can't be there with you all, but I'm in Korea for six months. I will see you all when I return. God Bless you all. Sincere condolences.

I just heard of Mr. Boones passing this afternoon. I met him in October of 2000 when I started working at Hughes Lumber. I'm sure he will be the only person I ever meet who did carpentry work for 90 years. I remember he told me that his father first put a hammer in his hand when he was 8 and if I remember correctly, he didn't actually stop working until he was 98. He commanded respect from all who knew him and he was the guy that seemed to know everyone and everyone knew him. He was a good man and will be missed. God bless you, Mr. Boone.

Carl Boone was a Charleston treasure and one that always had a word of wisdom to impart. During moments when you ran into Carl, you were held captive listening to the wise recall of days and people past and his encouragement that you led a life of fullness. I learned a great deal from this remarkable human being. My blessing to Oralee and the family.

Mr Boone was one of the first persons I met when I moved to Charleston.
He was still raising G3 in those years but was quick to share his fatherly advice with me too. From dealing with a spouses death, to raising children Carl Boone had the best advice of all.
To me he was much more than a knowledgeable, excellent craftsman although he provided unending help and guidance through many restoration projects. An extremely gifted craftsman my minds eye can see him now working at 16 Calhoun and 8 Chalmers in the suffocating heat or bitter cold, often on weekends and always on Holidays.
Carl had an immense capacity for love and he was adept at sharing it. Besides his family he bestowed much of it on G3. Through Gedney I was fortunate to receive a very small % but it was more than enough to last a lifetime.
Charleston has lost a great citizen whose every moment of life projected all the good this world has to offer.
Like others who have written and many more that haven't, I will miss him.
My condolences to Or Lee, Kenny, Terry, all family members and especially to G3, Gedney Howe who introduced me to this wonderful man.
Good day, Mr Carl.

We are sadden to learn about Mr. Boones passing. I've known him since I was a little girl. He would visit my grandfather in Huger, and they would talk for hours!!! A man of dignity, wisdom, honor, and love. I was able to chat with him three years ago, when he came to my grandfathers 90th Birthday celebration. He still spoke with dignity, and wisdom. To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord Jesus! Your family is in our prayers.

To the Boone family,
Mr. Boone was a man of many knowledges. I got to know Mr. Boone from working at Hughes Lumber. Every time he came in, he made sure he left a word of wisdom for me to go by, for that I am so grateful. Family continue to lean on Jesus. I know the chain line has been broken, but like Mr. Boone would always told me, pull the line tighter so it can get mended back together. Be Bless!
