Carl Beverly Obituary

Carl Beverly WALTERBORO - Mr. Robert Carl Beverly, 68, of 120 Grove Street, Walterboro, entered into his state of eternal rest Sunday evening, June 27, 2010, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Clara Mae Nettles Beverly. Funeral services will be conducted 11 o'clock Wednesday morning, June 30, 2010, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro with The Reverend David Cox officiating. Interment, with military honors will follow in Tabor United Methodist Churchyard, 7186 Bells Highway, Ruffin. Mr. Beverly was born April 7, 1942, in Ruffin, and was a son of the late Jack Walton Beverly, Sr. and the late Bernice Breland Beverly. He served his country faithfully in both the South Carolina National Guard and the United States Army. He retired in a civil service capacity as a firefighter from the Naval Hospital Beaufort He was a lifelong member of Tabor United Methodist Church where he was very dedicated with the maintenance to the church and grounds. He was a member of the American Legion and will be fondly remembered for his love of fishing, his "fish fry's" and his skillful talent he possessed in carpentry work. Surviving are: a son, Rodney Carl Beverly of Walterboro; a daughter, Brenda Carol Beverly of Walterboro; and a sister, Helen Beverly Crosby and her husband Renferd of Ruffin. There is a grandson, Lucas Christopher Zaker; and, a sister-in-law, Honorie Smith Beverly of Ruffin, that also survives with a loving host of other relatives to include nieces, nephews, cousins as well as those from his late wife Clara's family. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Earl Beverly; and a brother, Jack W. Beverly, Jr. Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, the family has respectfully requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to: Tabor United Methodist Church, care of Mr. Pete Adams, 211 Peachtree Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
