I just wanted to add a story about how important Brenda was to us and how she was really a valued member of the Bill Painter Family Singers.
There was a time that our family was singing for another church and of course, Brenda couldn't play for us. So I had another pianist that I knew play and record the song for me, but it just wasn't the SAME as when Brenda played for us. I thought and thought and remembered that we had video taped our performance at State Street one time. So I found the video tape and got out my cassette recorder and played the video and made a recording of us singing and Brenda playing for us. We popped that tape into the portable stereo we took with us and sang our hearts out with Brenda playing for us although she wasn't there. We will always remember her fondly and she will always have a Special Place in the hearts of the Bill Painter Family singers.

Dear Mike, Emily and John--and all of Brenda's family, 09-16-09
We were deeply saddened when we heard of Brenda's death, but rejoiced because we knew she was in the hands of God--perfect and without pain. PTL!!
We loved Brenda dearly and you know we love you, too. You will all be in our prayers as you have been for many years.
What a blessing it was for Royce to have Brenda as the pianist while at State Street Baptist Church. Because of Brenda's sweet Christ-like attitude, Royce's music ministry there was much easier and more pleasant for him and many others.
We thank God for friends like all of you.
Love, Royce and Ellen Walsh

You all have fought a very long and hard battle. What a tremendous example of God's love you all are. Brenda was such a kind and sweet person. Her presence has been missed in so many places. The witness of your family has brought only glory to our God. I pray He gives you peace and comfort now that Brenda suffers no more.

I'm gonna miss her giggles and kind and gentle touch with our little ones at State Street. It was not her way to take credit or draw attention to herself but her quiet way and loving heart amazingly did just that. I have tapes of her with Megan, Jeffrey and probably Caroline in Mission Friends and hope to someday share them with you. My heartfelt prayers are with you all.

As many have already stated, I too will pray for you Mike and your children as you continue to walk through this grief. I worked with Brenda at the Building in the 90's. I remember when she was carrying Emily - she even did "pregnant" with a special dignity. All of us are richly blessed to have known her and to have received her kind smile. I always loved to hear her laugh. She was an amazing woman of grace and kindness. May God grant you peace....

Dear Mrs. Whittington, Mike, John, and Emily,
So many beautiful things were said of Brenda in today's service, and they were all so true. The caring, loving, fun friendship she shared with me are precious memories. Friends of her calibre are few and far between - and impossible to replace. She was there for me during some low points in my life, and I will always remember that. And her laughter -- it always caused me to smile when I would hear her and know she was near in the Building. I loved her and appreciated her more than you can know. God bless you all.
Love,

Dear Family Members,
I want to express my deepest sympathy to you. Brenda was a very special person, and I know that you miss her greatly. I also know that she is now healed and praising Our Heavenly Father.
Brenda was one of my favorite students. I never forgot her smiling face and the effort that she always put forward to do her very best. After she began working at the SC Baptist Convention, my husband was on a committee and she recognized the name. Of course during that time period, we kept in touch through Larry. I also got updates from Kyle Harmon and when I talked to Carl Burkett, he would tell me all about Brenda. I will be praying for you, and I know that God will give you the strength you need.

I would like to say you all that I did not know your loved one but wanted to send my deepest symphathy and our prayers. Cherish the memories you have of her.
We lost a loved son in March at a young age and the pain and hurt is still so real.
Someone sent me this poem that really helped me a lot. I read it almost daily. I hope it gives you all the same comfort. May God bless you and keep His arms around you during this terrible time.
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you. It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
