Billy Humphries Obituary

HUMPHRIES, Bill Billy Joe Humphries, 71, of 220 California Avenue, died Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Born July 14, 1937, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late William Faber and Jenny Towery Humphries. He was the owner and operator of Humphries Transfer Company for 30 years and a member of Whitney Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Maxine Jackson Humphries; a daughter, Teresa Ward of Spartanburg; two granddaughters, Ashley Moore and her husband Chadwick of Spartanburg, and Heather Bivens and her husband Jeremy of Boiling Springs; and two great-granddaughters, Savannah and Brooklyn Bivens. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. John Cox. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beaumont Baptist Church, Fulfilling of the Dreams Fund, 945 Beaumont Avenue Extension, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home.
