The Family of the late Vermelle Addison Alston Family
November 2, 2025
She was a very sweet lady, as I recall the love shared by the entire family, back when neighbors loved each other like family, Mrs. Beulah was a second Mother and Toni a Big Sister. Mrs. Beulah was a kind Lady who was always willing to help if she could. I will forever cherish the many many memories and all the loved shared with Mrs. Beulah and entire Linnen Family. We love you all and it is our prayer that God continues to keep you in his care........

The Murphy Kids

Beulah blessed our family in so many ways. We are a navy family and came to Charleston in 1968 when our father, Captain Hugh R Murphy was assigned to the Navy Base . As always, Dad arrived early and settled in before my mother and we three kids came to our new home. Our dad had hired Beulah Linnen to help my mom, her kids and my dad settle in. She was a part of my family who cared for my sisters, me, my mom and dad. She was often a second mom for us. She loved us all. Her last direct service to my family ended with my dad's passing in July of 2007. For nearly 40 years Beulah was a part of our family. She was a housekeeper, and cook at first and then became another parent to us Murphy kids and one of my mother's best friends. When mother passed away, far too soon and unexpectedly, Beulah continued to care for my Dad. When he passed away she came to his funeral in North Carolina as part of our family. We had attended similar events for members of her family as well. For us, Beulah was another "mom". We loved her humor, her wisdom, her care, her devotion to our mother and dad and us, and we know that she lived a fine life of blessed service.
She is now with the members of her family who have gone to God before her. And we know that when she passed through those pearly gates she was greeted by the Lord Jesus as a good and faithful disciple, by her family for whom she cared so dearly and standing nearby amidst the heavenly throngs there stood our Mother and our Dad welcoming her home.
Rest in Peace, Beulah. We all loved you so much. The Murphy Kids
