There are people you meet and you instantly know that they are special. There are also people you meet and they are just quietly impactful to everyone around them. Betsy was both of these traits. While serving alongside Betsy at Westminster, very little was attempted by our Finance Comm, without getting Betsy's nod of approval. She was quiet but also recognized as the smartest person in the room. I never heard an ill comment spoken regarding Betsy and I never heard Betsy speak an ill word toward others.
My fondest memory of Betsy was when she discovered that Claire, Chuck, and the Grands were moving to town. I never saw Betsy that excited. She was so excited that she told everyone and if you saw her again, she would tell you again, again, and again ..... Then I met her family, and I could see why she was so excited.
All I can say is that God has a special place for people like Betsy. She is such a great example of what He wanted for us all.

Claire, I know you probably don't remember me much, but your mom and I worked together a long time. I will never forget her smile and her laugh. You were the highlight of her life and then the grandkids came along. :-) Please know your mom was a great woman who will be missed in this world.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Betsy McCarter Williams. Our families have been friends for many years, the Colemans and McCarters. The last time I saw Betsy at the UDC Memorial for her father, we enjoyed talking about her memories when her dad worked at Smith and Brooks, my father's business. I am happy to have had that time with her. My prayers go out to her family.
Caroline Smith Sherman.
