Barry will be remembered as a great person that enjoyed life. I met him about 5 years ago on my first trip to Costa Rica through another friend of his. We kept in contact through emails. My prayers & thoughts are with his family & friends. He will be missed by all. I will not be able to attend the services since I'm in Louisiana. His lost has shocked me. My next trip to Costa Rica will be dedicated to Barry. God Bless him.

Barry and I were friends all throughout school. I couldn't believe when heard the news of his death today. I remember him as "that nice kid" whom everyone liked. His magnetic personality awarded him many friends. Once you befriended Barry, he was always a friend. I'll always remember him as a man who saw the good in everybody, and am sad to see such a kind-hearted person leave this earth, but I know he left a mark on many. I wish I could be in Charleston for his memorial service. Please know that my heart and my prayers will be there. I know Barry will be smiling down upon us from Heaven. God bless his family through this mournful time.

Barry was a good friend to all he encountered. I have many great memories of him throughout high school. We kept touch throughout the years, and I always knew Barry was just a phonecall away, no matter where he lived. He was a person people counted on - and he never let them down.I've never heard him speak an unkind word about anyone. I will miss my lifelong friend. I was a better person for knowing him.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Sandel,
Paul Harrelson (a.k.a. Mullet) here.
I've just learned of Barry's death (Wednesday, March 25). Although Barry and I had not kept in touch through the years, he was my "best buddy" during high school, best man at my wedding, and best friend on into young adulthood. I remember many times being in your home as a teenager, you were always so kind to me. I feel blessed to have had a friend like Barry. He always had a way of making me laugh. I will cherish the memories I have of him and your family.
Loosing a child is a parent's worst nightmare. My wife and I lost our daughter, Joanna to breast cancer in 2004, she was 36 when she died. It just never gets easier.
We want you and Herman to know that we will always keep you in our prayers as you live with missing Barry.
May God bless you and comfort you all your life.
Love,
Paul and Ethel (Graham) Harrelson

To Aunt Betty and Barry's kids and family: I was horrified to hear about Barry's death. We grew up together as 1st cousins - along with his older brother and two sisters, and although we hadn't seen each other since 1954, I still have beautiful memories of all of you kids and have appreciated email contact with Barry and Buster's kids in the genealogical research of our family. God bless all of you during this time of bereavement. Sincerely, Dickie Chandler and family.

Barry, David Newsome, Francis Legare, and I used to hang around in the late 50's. I still recall his basement (a rare thing then in this area), racing kit cars on his steep driveway, and his pretty sisters. He was a good guy and always upbeat. I'm sure he must have been a good soldier and a great Dad.
Ruthie and I send our sympathies to the entire family during your bereavement.

Barry was my Brother-in-Law for many years. He was a good person, friendly to all he met, and had strong family values. I hadn't seen Barry in many years, ever since he moved to Costa Rica, but I had heard he was doing well in business there.
Dear Father, please bless Barry, and accept him with open arms, may he enjoy peace and harmony throughout eternity.
Sincerely,
Stan Reeves
