Brigadier General Aubrey Emmett Goettee, Sr. HAMPTON, SC - Brigadier General Aubrey Emmett Goettee, Sr., SC Army National Guard (Retired), 92, of Hampton, South Carolina, passed away Thursday morning, August 19, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his family. Born July 14, 1929 in Hampton, he was a son of the late Abe Washington Goettee and Viola McAlhaney Goettee. Mr. Aubrey served his country faithfully for 38 years in the South Carolina Army National Guard. While serving in the military, he worked for Plywood Plastics, which became Westinghouse, as a Senior Buyer and retiring as Manager of Inventory Control. He was a member of Hopewell First Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, and was also a member of the Allendale-Hampton Baptist Association. He was a member of Evergreen Masonic Lodge No. 153-Ancient Free Masons. Mr. Aubrey was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed working in his yard, which was always meticulous. He was an avid golfer and loved fishing. Watching airplanes, especially the jet streams behind them, was one of his favorite pastimes. His other favorite pastime was taking a ride in the truck to go oversee his farm. More than anything, he loved his family and his grand dogs. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with them. Surviving are: his wife of 66 years, Betty Louise Avant Goettee of Hampton; children, Donna Goettee Ruth and her husband, Jay of Hampton, Aubrey Emmett Goettee, Jr. of Varnville and Audrey Goettee Hutchins and her husband, Robert of West Columbia; granddaughter, Kristen Michelle Hutchins, lovingly named "Pooter" by her granddaddy, of Tampa, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Anna-Belle Goettee Boehm, Abe Goettee Jr. and his wife, Mamie, George Goettee, Sr. and his wife, Mozelle, Michel Goettee, Ada Goettee, Homer Goettee and his wife, Lib, and an infant sister; and a nephew, George Goettee, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock, Sunday afternoon, August 22, 2021 at Hopewell First Baptist Church, 6404 Hopewell Road, Hampton, SC 29924. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:30 until the hour of service in the church sanctuary. ARRANGEMENTS BY: THE BRICE W.
