Ashley! She lived on our hall in White dorm at ECU. Most of us girls were younger than her...she was close to graduating...so we all looked up to her. The beautiful, wild hair was her signature. Her sheer grace and presence were captivating. The guys on campus certainly thought so as well! She had a lot to say and we hung on her every word! She had art on her walls she had done that were beautiful. Just a sparkly, beautiful person! ECU's art school had a very tough reputation and it was not easy to get into. Surviving ECU art school and it's critiquing says a lot. We were all sad to see her graduate and leave us! I am sure she is making wherever she is now more beautiful with her presence and her art. Never will forget her.

Family can becomplicated. I found out yesterday that my Aunt passed away, a month ago.
When I remember her though, I won't think of the complicated family. I'll think of gorgeous wild hair and a welcoming voice. I'll think of the beach, airy bedrooms with gauzy curtains, the smell of oil paint. She was an incredibly talented artist with a soft spot for cats and a knack for putting together fabulous gift boxes filled with a million small thoughtful things. She was just the coolest. I'm so thankful we talked shortly before she passed and every time I see the painting in my kitchen, I'll say a little thank you that I got to have her in my life, however briefly.

Ashley´s flame burnt out entirely too early. I am sorry that things were always so complicated. You will forever live in mine and my families hearts.
