Arthur McKay Obituary

Arthur Bradshaw McKay, Sr. Charleston - Arthur Bradshaw McKay, Sr. (Brad), 72, of Charleston, husband of Cheryl Morrison McKay, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at a local hospital. He was born in Charleston, the son of Robert Clement McKay, Sr. and Cathryne Bradshaw McKay, on September 9, 1948. He was a graduate of Murray Vocational High School. Brad served over 30 years in the United States Air Force Reserve and retired as a Master Sergeant. He worked at Wholesale Industrial Electronics for 50 years. Brad was an active member at Old St. Andrew's Parrish Church for over 25 years. During that time, he served as Junior Warden on the Vestry, on the Restoration Committee and on the Buildings and Grounds Committee. Brad loved spending time with his family, especially around the pool, watching Clemson football and playing Bunco with friends. Most of all he was a caring, compassionate and fun-loving friend, husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all. Brad is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cheryl M. McKay of Charleston; his son, Brad McKay (Jennifer) of Greenville and his daughter, Lisa C. McKay of Charleston. He is also survived by 3 brothers: Robert C. McKay, Jr., Thomas P. McKay (Tracy) and Michael F. McKay; 3 sisters: Anne Gaylard (Ricky), Jeanne Wiggins (Chuck) and Cathryne McManus; his brother-in-law, Tommy Morrison (Martha); 2 granddaughters, Kayla Bryce McKay and Brooke Caroline McKay as well as many nieces, nephews and his beloved dog, Holly. A private service will be held to honor Brad's life. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be offered at www.CharlestonFunerals.com.
