Ann Cornwell Obituary

Ann Cornwell CHARLESTON - Ann Cornwell, born March 23, 1954, recently entered eternal rest with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in whom she faithfully trusted. Annie was the daughter of William Murr (Chum) Cornwell and Louise Lockwood. She grew up in downtown Charleston and enjoyed carefree summers on Sullivan's Island, building lifelong memories surrounded by family and friends. A proud graduate of First Baptist High School (Class of 1972), Annie went on to earn her Bachelor's degree from Clemson University in 1976 and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from The College of Charleston in 1978. Annie was a dedicated teacher in Charleston County Schools before moving into the private sector to work alongside her older brother, Billy. Later, she joined the retail world, where she spent many years as a faithful employee at Marshalls. To her beloved nieces and nephews, she was Anniboo - a name that perfectly captured her warmth, playfulness, and generous spirit. Annie was known for her kindness, loyalty, and creativity. She was a gifted storyteller who could twist a tale in just the right way, holding her listeners spellbound before ending every story in laughter. Annie's legacy of compassion, creativity, and love for family will live on in the hearts of those who knew her best. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Billy. She is survived by her siblings, Rooney Rosmer (David), Julie Gregorie (Will), Frank Cornwell (Libby), Edward Cornwell (Jerry), Sally Weaver (Curtis), her eleven beloved nieces and nephews, and seventeen great-nieces and nephews. Ann's funeral service will be held at the J. Henry Stuhr Downtown Chapel on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at 2:00pm. The family will receive friends the hour prior. Following the funeral service, a graveside committal will be held at Magnolia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society or The American Diabetes Association.

Yesterday

I have fond childhood memories of Annie and all my Charleston cousins at the beach house on Sullivan“s island. Wish I had known her as an adult, sounds like she was such a wonderful, loving lady. My prayers are with all the Charleston cousins during this hard time of grieving and missing your Annie.
