Bobby Stilley Obituary
Bobby Glen Stilley
December 8, 1938 – November 9, 2025
Bobby Glen Stilley, 86, of Timpson, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025. Born on December 8, 1938, in Timpson to Talmadge and Clara Stilley, he was raised among the piney woods he so dearly loved.
Bobby graduated Timpson High School in 1957 and soon after entered the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Alaska. Following his military service, he returned to Texas and joined the Houston Police Department. On a visit home to see family, he was introduced to Sarah Youngblood on a blind date, one that quickly led to a lifetime of love. After a few drive-in movie dates at the Redland Theater, Bobby and Sarah married on August 25, 1961.
The couple made their home in Oak Ridge North, Texas, where they raised their two children, Russell and Shanna. After 20 years of service, Bobby retired from the police department and pursued his passion for woodworking. What began as crafting lighted gun cabinets for fellow officers blossomed into a successful business, Stilley Construction Company, which he owned and operated for more than 25 years. Bobby became one of the area's premier custom home builders, though his favorite creation was always his own log cabin in Timpson. Originally intended as a hunting lodge, it evolved into the beloved family home and later, his and Sarah's cherished retirement home.
Bobby was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. A former athlete and lifelong sports enthusiast, he rarely missed a Timpson Bears football game, home or away, and was named "The Real Bear of the Year" in 2016. He found joy in fishing, hunting, building, and quiet walks through the woods. Above all, he loved sharing the simple pleasures of country life with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, teaching them to appreciate nature, telling stories of his adventures, and giving unforgettable tractor bucket rides.
Those who knew Bobby will remember his kindness, patience, faith, and humor. He was the steady, loving pillar of his family and a loyal friend to many. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand or share a laugh.
Bobby was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sarah Youngblood Stilley; daughter, Shanna Stilley; and siblings Delton Stilley, Hilda Watson, Kay Higley, and Joann Thompson.
He is survived by his son, Russell Stilley, and wife, Veronica, of Bryan, Texas; grandchildren Lauren and Tony Najari, Cara and Hunter Taber, Braden Stilley, and Makenzie Hauser; great-grandchildren Ava Najari, Charlotte Najari, and Hudson Taber; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins who will forever cherish his memory.
Bobby is entrusted to the care of Laird Funeral Home in Nacogdoches, Texas.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, November 13th at 2:00 PM at Old Home Missionary Baptist Church 685 CR 4455, Joaquin, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Timpson Bear Championship Signs Project in honor of Bobby's love for Timpson Bear Football. Donations may be sent to:
