Walter Frank Anderson
AIKEN - CAPT WALTER FRANK ANDERSON, USAF Ret., 73, husband of the late Rev. Shelley Susan Springer Anderson, passed away Monday, May 16, 2022.
Born in Fort Trenton, NJ, Walter was a son of the late Walter J. and Dorothy Schneider Anderson. He lived in Chicago with his family after his father was discharged from the Navy in 1950. He attended Saint Bonaventure and Saint Peter Catholic grade schools in Chicago and Skokie Illinois. In 1959 the family bought a farm in upper Wisconsin where Walter learned farming, milking cows, haying, and hunting. He attended Webster High School and led the marching band. In 1967 the family moved to Superior Wisconsin where he completed high school and then continued on to earn an Bachelor's degree in Accounting at the University of Wisconsin Superior. He later earned his Masters in Public Administration after he was married and started a family. Some of his many adventures and residences along the way included Colorado, Turkey, Japan, Georgia, NC, and IL twice where, in 1992, he retired from 20 years of service in the United States Air Force. He then began work in Contract Negotiations for several companies, taking him to Las Vegas, NV, for 12 years and eventually making Aiken, SC his home since 2011. He enjoyed a lifelong passion for fishing, hunting, and cooking. He was a humble and generous man, loved by many, and a friend to all.
Survivors include three children; Bradley C. Anderson (Amanda D.), Glen Carbon, IL, Stefanie L. Anderson, Shiloh, IL, Vicki Stanley (Michael A.), New Ellenton, SC; two grandchildren, Michael A. Stanley Jr., Loralei Grace Stanley; a sister, Georgianne Lowney (Joel), Clermont, FL; a brother, Allen Anderson (Kathy), Scottsdale, AZ.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, May 22nd from 3 until 5 o'clock at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 5 o'clock with The Rev. Jonathan Randall officiating. Interment with full military honors will be Monday morning, May 23rd at 10 o'clock in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC
