SARAH CRABTREE Obituary

CRABTREE, SARAH BELLE HOLDREDGE (AUNT TOM) - age 89, passed away on April 4, 2014, at Tennova Residential Hospice Facility in Knoxville, Tennessee. Born on September 28, 1924, in Loudon, she graduated from Loudon High School in 1942. She was a life long resident of Loudon County, living in the house she and her husband built on the farm where she was born. For over 20 years she worked for Mr. Billy Brewer, first at the Fabric Center, and then the Five to Five until the store closed. She was a member of Prospect Baptist Church where over the years she served as Sunday school secretary, church clerk, choir member, WMU member/leader, and GA leader. Sarah was a 14 year breast cancer survivor. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 38 years and a Gold Star Mother, where her presence at the annual Loudon County Memorial Day and Veterans Day observances spoke volumes without her uttering a word. She lived her life by the Christian principles on which she believed showing kindness to all those she met. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be truly missed family and friends. She is preceded in death by husband, Harvey Crabree; son, Harvey "Butch" Crabtree, Jr.; parents, Homer and Glynden "Hoppage" Merrick Holdredge; sisters and brothers-in-law, Maye and Frank Rose, Ruth and Tom White; brother and sister-in-law, Homer "Buck" and Gaynelle Holdredge. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Don Zerrip, Lenoir City; grandsons, Matthew Zerrip, Knoxville, and Andrew Zerrip, San Francisco; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Joyce Holdredge, Knoxville; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great niece and nephews. The family would like to thank all of those who helped care for Sarah in her final days, but most of all to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who has welcomed her home to heaven. The family will receive friends at Loudon Funeral Home on Sunday, from 2:00 - 4:30 p.m., with the celebration of life at 5:00 p.m. Randy Irons and Gerald Perry will officiate the service. Interment will be on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Roberson Cemetery. Arrangements by Loudon Funeral Home.www.loudonfuneralhome.net

Thank you for allowing me in your home to care for Sarah. I am so happy that I was able to be a part of her life even if it was for only a short time. She will be missed.

We saw Mrs. Crabtree in 2002 when David's Mother died. She came up to David and held his face in her hands and talked about how Butch would look at that age. Now she has seen that beautiful face of her son, gone so many years from this life. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. May Gods' Grace give you comfort knowing she is in Gods' Hands.

Even though it has been about 50 years since I saw you and your Mom last, I have special memories of the both of you. Your mom was a special lady for whom I have always had a great deal of respect. May the Lord give you peace through this time of sorrow.
