Working for Rodney, I felt like he truly cared about us as human beings, not just "employees." It is rare to feel your employer cares about you. It was an honor and privilege to spend 8 years with. He was humble, funny and kind.
The story of Ignats the rat is one of my favorites. Oh how that rat outsmarted us is. I brought my game camera in and set it up in the back room because we couldn´t figure out how he was getting past the closed door. We caught several of Ignat´s not so smart relatives but never caught him. In the end, Rodney put out poison and Ignats "took the bait." And of course he decided to die in that back room where Rodney kept a LOT of stuff. So then we had to get Ignats out because of the smell. This tale has taken a dark turn so I should probably just stop...
