Robert W. Goings
Graniteville- Funeral Services for Mr. Robert W. Goings, 84, who entered into rest April 19, 2022, will be conducted Saturday morning at 11 o'clock in the Posey Funeral Chapel with Dr. Roy Head officiating. Interment in Pineview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 until 8.
Mr. Goings was a native of Augusta, Georgia and was the son of the late W. R. "Wick" Goings and Grace Pauline Taylor Goings. He was a 1957 graduate of the Academy of Richmond County. Mr. Goings was a retired Captain in the United States Army Reserves, who served as the Company Commander of the 1148th Transportation Company, Georgia Army National Guard, Augusta, Georgia. He was a member of the American Legion Jesse C. Lynch Memorial Post #71 and the Military Officers Association of America. Mr. Goings was a contractor for Security Fence of Augusta, and was a member of Belvedere First Baptist Church, Beech Island Agriculture Club, and the Belvedere Jaycees.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Beech Island Agriculture Club Cooks, Ken Gray, Mike Haltwinger, Dr. John W. L. Smith, Rev. Frank Hyder, Rock Willingham, and Tony Riley. Active Pallbearers will be Joe Whingther, Jason Whingther, John Pettigrew, Daniel Andrews, Kenny Wall and Alvin Anderson.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Lynna Mae Jones Goings; a daughter, Toni Maria Goings, Graniteville, SC; a son, Jason (Michelle) Goings, Graniteville, SC; two grandchildren, Hagan Goings and Brandon Goings; two sisters, Brenda Johnson, Augusta, GA and Gracie Hammock, North Augusta, SC; several nieces and nephews.
