Richard Greer Willard
AIKEN - RICHARD GREER WILLARD, 72, beloved husband of Pamela Parrott Willard, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, December 18, 2022 in Piedmont Augusta Hospital.
A native of Knoxville, TN, Rick was a son of the late Jack Greer and Wanda Sise Willard. He earned his Bachelor's degree from UT-Knoxville and his Master's degree in nuclear engineering from USC. Rick moved to Aiken in 1968. He retired after 49 years from the Savannah River Site. He was the former owner of Wiznet Computers. Rick was an active member of Corinth Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, served as church treasurer for 35 years, played on the church's basketball, softball and volleyball teams and also sang in the choir and church's quartet. He was a member of Gideons International, serving as treasurer of the Gideon East Camp in Aiken. Rick pulled chains for Silver Bluff Football for 30 years and formerly served as treasurer for the Silver Bluff Band Boosters.
Survivors, in addition to Pamela, his wife of 49 years; two sons, Nolan Ryan Willard, Memphis, TN, Richard Greer Willard, II (Vanessa), Johns Creek, GA; three grandchildren, Raegan, Blayke and Roman; sister, Jacki Willard-Olive (David), Nashville, TN; sisters-in-law, Judy Willard, Knoxville, TN, Deborah Winburn, New Ellenton; two nephews, Jack Willard, James Willard Olive.
The family will receive friends Friday afternoon, December 23rd from 1:30 until 3:00 PM at Corinth Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3 PM with The Revs. Jason Redd and Brancie Stephens officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Kirby Bunton officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Corinth Baptist Church, P.O. Box 454, New Ellenton, SC 29809 or to Gideons International, P. O. Box 1926, Aiken, SC 29802.
