Richard Lowe Obituary

Richard Henry Lowe
Aiken - Richard Henry Lowe transitioned peacefully to his Heavenly home on Saturday September 18, 2021.
Henry Lowe was born on October 10, 1932 to the late Chester M. Lowe and Laura Heath Lowe. He was the youngest of 7 children, all of whom have preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Barfield Lowe, of almost 63 years. He is also survived by a son, Patrick N. Lowe, a daughter, Kimberlyn D. Roten, and six grandchildren: Virginia Marie (Gina) Lowe, Joseph (Joe) Lowe, Will Valaquez, Zion Asher Krause, Micah Eden Krause, and Avnielle Rylan Krause, also numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Keith Lowe, parents Chester and Laura Lowe, and siblings: Ernest (Sabra) Lowe, Joe (Bessie) Lowe, Delores (Everett) Davidson, Dolly Budnaitis, Emma (Dell) Knight and Alice (Vernon) Massey.
Richard Henry was educated in the Aiken County School system, received his BA degree from Furman University and his MA degree from Pepperdine University.
He was a Korean War veteran, having served in the Naval Air Unit of the Navy.
Richard Henry had a special passion for airplanes and motorcycles. Before his health declined, he enjoyed flying his own airplane and riding his motorcycle.
After graduating from college, he taught for 3 years as a teacher in Augusta, GA. He then began a career at Ft Gordon, GA in Civil Service. His civil Service led him to a 13 month tour in Vietnam in 19070-1971 where he lived among the active duty soldiers and witness first hand combat in the war zone. His continued civil service career at Fort Gordon also led him to two separate tours in South Korea where he held official supervisory positions in the Army Education Services Department. He was responsible for managing the ongoing education of enlisted soldiers who were serving in the Army at that time.
He was a faithful member of Chime Bell Baptist Church where over the years he had served as a deacon, Sunday School Teacher and in whatever capacity he was needed. He dearly loved his church where he attended as a child with his parents and siblings. He had many stories to tell of his childhood memories of church dinners, pastors who came and went, all covering a period of 88 years.
Richard Henry was a member of the Gideon International and attended regularly scheduled meetings faithfully until his health declined. He really enjoyed accompanying other Gideons where Bibles were allowed to be presented or placed.
A memorial service in his honor will be held at Chime Bell Baptist Church on Thursday, September 23 at 4 p.m.
Condolences may be sent to his residence at 951 Chime Bell Road. Memorial contributions may be designated to Chime Bell Baptist Church or to the Gideons International.

I am so sorry I cannot attend Henry's memorial service. I am recuperating form a broken femur in my hip and am not very mobile. I send my love and prayers to the family. I love all of you and feel like I am part of your family. We will always have Uncle Henry in our hearts.

Mr. Henry,
You were an amazing man who helped me throughout many times in my life. Some of my favorite memories as a child include you, your wife, and hay rides around your property. You will be missed terribly.
