AIKEN - Paul E. Olney, 81, beloved husband of Candice Edwards Olney, passed away Tuesday evening, August 29, 2023 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Meadville, PA, Paul was a son of the late Edward Neal and Doris Margaret Cain Olney. He grew up in Straight, OK. Paul was a proud veteran of the U. S. Army. He moved to Aiken in 1967 and worked for Owens Corning Fiberglass for 37 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of Bethcar Baptist Church. Paul was an avid golfer. He loved photography, music, painting and reading. He was an accomplished woodworker and loved his garden.
Survivors, in addition to Candice, his wife of 37 years, include two daughters, Kendra O. Brown, Cornealius, OR, Stacie O. Steel (Robert), North Augusta, SC; two sons, William Travis Garvin (Amanda), Warrenville, SC, Timothy S. Garvin (Tonya), Beaufort, SC; ten grandchildren, Katlin Putman, David Putman, Dorothy Griffin, Crys Steel, Jeremy Steel, Hailey Steel, Tessa Fazenbaker, Tera Hobbs, Brittney Harper, T. J. Garvin; four great-grandchildren, Riley Anderson, Tripp McElveen, Colton Hobbs, Liliana Gomez (due in December); two brothers, James Michael Olney (Sherry), Pelion, SC, Zack William Olney (Pamela), Glen Burnie, MD. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bryan Putman and a brother, John Edward Onley.
The family will receive friends Friday afternoon, September 1st beginning at 2 o'clock at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 3 o'clock in the funeral home chapel with The Rev. Chris Addy officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Bethcar Baptist Church, 950 Bethcar Church Rd., Wagener, SC 29164.
