For Momma Layman, the best grandmother ever. She was supportive, energetic, interesting, and loving. She was generous, helping me in many ways through college and graduate school. Her interesting life took her from Alabama to Washington D.C. where she worked on the census. Pictures of her were taken in Niagara Falls and Mt. Vernon, and she and Pa spent their honeymoon in Cuba. An educated woman, she started out teaching in a one-room school house in Alabama and substitute taught for many years in Knox County. She was a fabulous cook who grew most of her own produce and called her favorite butcher by name. Thanks to the Little Creek staff who took such good care of her for many years.
