Margie Wilson Richardson
AIKEN, SC - Margie Wilson Richardson, 91, widow of Lloyd George Richardson, died Friday, November 20, 2015 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
A native of Maiden, NC, Mrs. Richardson was a daughter of the late Thomas Maurice and Audrey Hoyle Wilson. She was a retired seamstress from S. R. Skinner. Mrs. Richardson was a member of Redds Branch Baptist Church where she was also a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class and the 50 Uppers.
She was one of the first female police officers for the City of Aiken. She, along with the guidance of Michaela Berley, helped start the Christmas Lights in Hopelands Gardens. She was a former member of the Pairs and Spares.
Survivors include her son, Calvin Thomas Richardson (Pam), Aiken; two brothers, Claude Wilson (Sylvia), Hickory, NC, Hal Wilson, (Beulah), Hickory, NC; six grandchildren, Tommy Richardson (Alysha), Keith Walters (Keisha), Robyn Walker (Nick), Angela Goebel (Josh), Kyle Walters (Leslie), Kris Walters (Chien); ten great-grandchildren, Eric and Collin Walters, Nicholas and Zachary Walker, Logan and Mallory Richardson, Audrey, Caroline and Jacob Walters and Loralei Goebel.
In addition to her husband of over 60 years and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Hugh and Guy Wilson; two sisters, Madge and Prue Wilson.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5 until 7 o'clock at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at Redds Branch Baptist Church with The Revs. Richard McWhite and Mark Watford officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommie Blackwell, Kyle Walters, Eric Walters, Nicholas Walker, Nick Walker and Josh Goebel.
