Johannes van der Linden Obituary

North Augusta, SC – Visitation for Johannes Wilhelmus Henricus Caspar "Jan" van der Linden, age 102, who passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, will be held Monday evening from 5 until 7.

Mr. van der Linden was born January 6, 1924, in Eindhoven, Netherlands, he made his home in North Augusta, SC for more than 50 years. Jan was married to his beloved wife, Elaine Crawford van der Linden, with whom he shared a life of service and compassion. He was preceded in death by Elaine and his son, Hans van der Linden.

Professionally, Jan was a project manager with DSM Chemicals, building chemical plants all over the world, and in later years he pursued a unique passion by building geodesic domes, reflecting both his creativity and engineering spirit.

He is lovingly remembered by his children, Frits van der Linden, Wim van der Linden, Rudi van der Linden (Maricel), Ine van der Linden, Eric van der Linden (Terra), Mark van der Linden and Brian Grubbs; grandchildren, Stephen, Richard, Koen, Rik, Martijn, Sander, Freek, Jeroen, Rianne, Efri, Zane, Banks and Knox; sisters, Ria and Han; brother, Piet.

Jan will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, engineer, and compassionate advocate for animals. His long life was one of purpose, generosity, and love, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Jan and Elaine founded and operated Molly's Militia, an animal rescue organization dedicating themselves wholeheartedly to the welfare of animals.
