Lottie Powell Obituary
AUGUSTA, GA - Entered into rest Friday, January 16, 2015, Mrs. Lottie Chesney Powell, 85, loving wife to the late James W. Powell.
Mrs. Powell was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit #205. She loved sewing and was a seamstress for many years. She liked gardening flowers and fishing with her husband. Mrs. Powell was a devoted mother and she loved her children, grandchildren, and family.
Family members include her son: Edward Powell (Jan); daughters: Diane Powell Shirey, Joyce Powell Manecke; grandchildren: Elaine Rich, Jason Powell, Steven Shirey, Jonathan Shirey, Brian Manecke, Amanda Humphrey, Stephanie Hallman, Kimberly Harrison; and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by her son, William A. Powell.
A funeral service will be Monday, January 19, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Dr. Donald C. Prosser officiating. Burial will follow in Graniteville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Towers Resident Fund, 724 Greene St., Augusta, GA 30901.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907 (706) 364-8484.

Thinking of you all during this difficult time. I remember all the good times I had at the Powell house when we were all growing up on Jenkins St. Mrs. Powell always made me feel so welcome and treated me like one of her own. Great memories! Joyce, Diane and family.. my thoughts and prayers are with you today and the upcoming days. Lottie was one of the most gracious,sweetest ladies that I have ever met and had the pleasure to work with.Just know that she is resting in peace now with your Dad and brother and will be watching over you til you met again!
