Joseph Robinson Obituary

AIKEN – A graveside service for Mr. Joseph Howard "Jake" Robinson, Jr. age 84 will be held Monday, Jan. 18 at 2:00 pm at Aiken Memorial Park, Hwy. 19, with Pastor Jordan Bird officiating. Masonic rites will be recited at the graveside. Mr. Robinson entered into rest Thursday, January 14, 2021 at his residence. He was the husband of 66 years to Mrs. Mahalah Vickers Robinson and a son of the late Mr. Joseph Howard Roberson, Sr. and the late Mrs. Mildred Inez Williams Roberson. Mr. Robinson retired in 1989 from E.I. DuPont De Nemours and Company after 25 years of service as an Operator. For over 44 years Mr. Robinson owned and operated his own sign painting business, "Art Craft Signs" in Aiken having created, hand painted and placed many prominent business signs throughout the city and county of Aiken. He was a 3rd degree Mason with the Aiken Masonic Lodge # 156 AFM. During his 40 year tenure as a Mason he became an active member of the Jamil Shrine Temple in Columbia, SC. Mr. Robinson was a faithful member of Talatha Baptist Church. Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife and 3 daughters, Kimberly (Norman) Brinkley, Aiken, Marna (Doug) Lynn, Clarksville, TN, Stephanie (Kevin) VanRiper, Warrenville; 3 brothers, William Martin Roberson, Jerry W. Roberson, and Russell P. Roberson all of Aiken; 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Mr. Robinson was predeceased by 2 sisters, Mary Dell Morris and Charlotte Bush. Pallbearers will be Norman Brinkley, Kevin VanRiper, Douglas Lynn, Jerry Roberson, Martin Roberson, Russell Roberson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Shriner's Hospital of Greenville, SC: 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605. Visitation with the family will take place Monday, Jan. 18 from 12:00 noon until 1:30 pm at Cole Funeral Home. The procession will leave the funeral home at 1:35 pm for the graveside service. Because of the Covid-19 situation, masks will be required and social distancing will be observed. The service will be live streamed on the Cole Funeral Home FaceBook page.
