John Arthur "Artie" Gibbons
AIKEN, SC - Mr. John Arthur "Artie" Gibbons age, 63, entered into rest on Sunday, December 11, 2016 peacefully at his residence.
Artie, as he was affectionately known as, was born September 17, 1953 in Charleston, SC to James and Gladys Gibbons. He has been a resident of Aiken, SC for sixty years and was of the Baptist faith. Artie will be remembered for the love he had for his friends, family, and especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, James R. Gibbons and Gladys B. Gibbons, Artie is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kay Warneke Gibbons; two sons, Scott Gibbons (Shayna), of Minot, ND and Matt Gibbons (Anna), North Myrtle Beach, SC; a sister, Jackie Wilkinson (Sam); four brothers, Dick Gibbons, David Gibbons (Adena), Pat Gibbons (Teresa), Ken Gibbons (Amy); and five grandchildren, Cayden, Aleah, Cayley, Bryce and John Thomas Gibbons.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 17 from 3pm-5pm at George's Funeral Home, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC, 29801 (803.649.6234) .
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Artie's memory may be directed to The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation at cholangiocarcinoma.org.

I always enjoyed being around Artie and his wonderful family when we were growing up. What a baseball player. I remember playing in the side yard. I hope he was not in pain very long and I am praying for you all.

Kay, Scott, Matt and familes and the Gibbons family. We are very sad to hear of the loss of Artie. From first meeting him as he and Kay being High School sweethearts to present, he has touched so many lives and left behind wonderful fond memories that will always keep him close in heart, Sincerely, Aunt Frances and your cousins, Linda, Susan and Barbara.
