AIKEN - Funeral services for Gloria Jean Johnson Hodges Croft, 72, of Aiken, SC, will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2018 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel Williston SC. Burial will follow at Aiken Memorial Gardens, Hwy 19, Aiken, SC; the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Jean passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018.
Born in Moundsville, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Robert Seward "Bob" Johnson and Helen Geneva Long Johnson; she was first married to the late Douglas Carlton Hodges, Sr. and formerly married to Samuel J. Croft. Jean was a graduate of Aiken High School and owner/operator of Jean's Greenhouse and Nursery in Aiken. She retired as a LPN having worked for more than 20 years at the Williston Medical Center and the Blackville Medical Center for Dr. W.B. Clark. She also was a former member of the Barnwell Rescue Squad and worked at various hospitals and nursing homes throughout Aiken and Barnwell counties.
Survivors include her daughters, Robin (Greg) Flach of Aiken, SC, Denise Hodges of Columbia, SC; grandchildren Joshua, Olivia and Erica Flach; Joseph Hodges; sisters Clara Livingston of Lugoff, SC, Joy Lynne Paradise of Nashua, NH; brother William L. (Joanne) Johnson, Sr. of Bamberg; sister-in-law Sybil Johnson of Lithia Springs, GA; Uncle Daniel Michael Johnson of Melbourne, FL; Aunt Mary "Midge" Tennant of Moundsville, WV; a dear friend Lynn Boyer of Williston, SC and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son Douglas Carlton Hodges, Jr. and a brother Roger S. Johnson.
