Geraldine Bankoff Obituary
AIKEN - Mrs. Geraldine Schwartz Bankoff, 87, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018.
Mrs. Bankoff was born in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of the late Samuel and Elizabeth Minkoff Schwartz. She retired after more than 25 years of service as a Connetquot Teacher on Long Island, NY. She was a former president of the Retired Teachers Union on Long Island, a member of the Aiken Newcomers Club, and was in the Sisterhood of the Congregation of Adath Yeshurun, Aiken.
Survivors include her children, Charles Michael Bankoff (Marcia), San Clemente, CA, Susan Wilson, Aiken, SC, Andrew Bankoff (Kathleen), Holbrook, NY; grandchildren, Matthew Schmeltz, Amanda Ventura (Chris), Amberlie Bankoff, Adam Bankoff, Dr. Jillian Bankoff, Victoria Bankoff, Meagan Lynn Wilson, Brandy Rae Wilson; great-grandchildren, Michael Jerome Ventura, Ava Elizabeth Ventura, Ansley Rae Wilson-Carsten; sister, Zelda "Lee" Rand, Aiken, SC, niece Stephanie (Rand) Hall, Long Island, NY.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Stanley Bankoff, and son-in-law, Captain Bobby Wilson.
The funeral service will be Tuesday June 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home with Rabbi Shai Beloosesky officiating. Interment will be private.

I was actually thinking about the two of them this week. This quarantine gave me a lot of time to reflect and I recalled them as they were joyous in life and in marriage. And they were funny. It didn't matter which "Gerry" I was talking to - I was laughing. I was just an acquaintance of the two of the - but they both made a lasting impression.

Actually - I think of both the Bankoff's often. They were a source of inspiration for married couples and showed us how to love well and age well. And they cracked me up with their conversation. We need more people like them in the world to show the rest of us how to do life and marriage over the years.
