It is with deepest and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Mr. Eugene F. Gardner who entered into rest May 27, 2025.
Eugene Franklin Gardner was the youngest child born to the late John Pete and Catherine Gardner on February 22, 1939 in
North Augusta, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his brother, George William Gardner. Eugene was educated in the Public Schools of Aiken County. He attended Martha Schofield High School and graduated from the newly built Jefferson High School in the class of 1958. He also attended Morris College in Sumter, South Carolina. Eugene worked as a Manufacturing Quality Control Operator, a Long Distance Truck Driver, and retired as a Concrete Mixer with Augusta Ready Mix.
Eugene was a lifelong member of Old Storm Branch Baptist Church from a very early age. He served in the Trustee Ministry and Hospitality Ministry. He was married to the late Synita McKie Gardner and they were the parents of five children.
Eugene's survivors include his Children: Iris (Stafford) Simpkins of
North Augusta, SC, Latrice Gardner of Augusta, GA, Karen Gardner of Irmo, SC, Christopher Gardner of Charlotte, NC. His eldest child, son Franklin Gardner preceded him in death. Grandchildren: Lakesha (Eric) Webb of Conyers, GA, LeBrandi Gardner of Washington, DC, DeAndre Williams of Charlotte, NC, Kyle Ferguson of Columbia, SC, Christopher Gardner, II of Statesville, NC, Paris Ferguson of Columbia, SC, Braeden Gardner of Statesville, NC. Great-Grandchildren: Anzaye Key, AyTiona Williams, Nadira Williams, Omari Williams, Aria Ferguson. His Devoted Sister, Beatrice (Linzie) Tompkins of New York, NY. A Devoted Niece Betty Jean "Sis" Stephens of Bath, SC who provided attentive, dedicated loving care. A Loyal and Dedicated Nephew, Andrew "Bubba" Gardner of Bath, SC. Goddaughter, Alicia Rearden. Special Daughters: Ingrid "Connie" Gardner of Indian Trail, NC and Patricia "Pat" Geter of Bath, SC. Close Friends: Ruthella Rearden, Mary Drayton, and Ruben Samuels, all of
North Augusta, SC and William H. Carmichael of Dillon, SC. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members, and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 12 noon Monday, June 2, 2025 at G. L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Martris Mims officiating.
