Donald Lee Huff
Windsor - Donald Lee Huff, 84 of Windsor, South Carolina, passed away October 18, 2021 at home surrounded by family.
Don was born October 18, 1937, in Alturas, California, the son of the late Flossie and Leslie huff.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1954 and travelled the world. He served two tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery. While serving in the Army he met the love of his life, Susan M Morrissett, and was married August 10, 1971. Ready for the next chapter, Don retired from the Army in 1978 as a Master Sargent Special Forces, Green Beret, 82nd Airborne, Engineer after 21 years of faithful service. They returned to Susan's hometown of Aiken South Carolina. He worked for Aiken Pest Control and John Dee and then Savannah River Site as a Lead Mechanic where he retired after 20 years. Don was a loving husband and father and was very proud of his family near and far. All his life he served... in the Army and to those that needed. him. He followed the Lord in. his own way. A man blessed with the biggest heart and love of his family no matter if it was by blood or friendship. He is now with his fellow soldiers, friends and family that have gone before him in the presence of Jesus.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Huff of South Carolina; sisters, Loretta Curtin and Sharon Anthony of Washington; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Darlene Huff of Washington; son Terry of Huff of Washing; daughter, dawn Lawson of Washington, daughter and son-in-law, Sherrie and Jeremy Morris of North Carolina; grandchildren, Alisa Farthing, Jacob Huff, Felicia White, Clarissa Jackson, Jayden Huff, Robert Fain Jr., Jasmin Lawson, Taylor and Cody Morris; great grandchildren, Parker, Aiden, and Kaylee Farthing.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Aiken County Historical Museum on Saturday December 11, 2021 at 5:30 pm. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Aiken County Historical Museum, 433 Newberry Street SW Aiken, SC 29801 in his honor.
