Dallas Ruark
BEAUFORT - It is with great sadness that the family reports the death of Dallas Ruark 84, of Beaufort SC and Aiken, SC. He passed on May 12, 2025 while visiting family in Chico, Ca. Dallas and his wife Scottie owned and operated Annie's Inn Bed and Breakfast in Montmorenci, SC for 25 years of their married life. During their years of inn-keeping, they created an atmosphere of friendship and compassion that led to life-long friendships with people all over the world. They retired to their coast home in Beaufort in 2022.
A celebration of life will be held at Annie's Inn Bed and Breakfast in Montmorenci, on September 27, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. The family extends a warm welcome to all who knew him to attend. Please no flowers.
Dallas Arther Ruark was born on April 1, 1941 in Brownfield Texas to Dallas Frank Ruark and EvaMarie. He was the last of their 6 children. When Dallas was 10 the family moved to Grand Junction, Colorado. As a teenager he attended Central High School where he was on the wrestling team competing at state level. He was also a five-star Thespian. Upon graduation, he attended Mesa college. Several years later he attended Seminary for 3 years in Minot, North Dakota. He and Scottie were classmates and met at a class reunion after 37 years. Both were single and a romance began. They were married a year later and Dallas moved from Denver to be with his bride.
Dallass prior work history was multi-faceted. As a representative for Phoenix Press of Denver, Co. He was a Councilor for the Department of Industry and Commerce in Saskatchewan, Canada. He was International Sales for Record Stockman of Denver for many years. Previously he was a minister who with his young family, pastored churches in North Dakota, New Mexico, Texas and Colorado over a period of 13 years.
He was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters. Jack Ruark, Ava Gay Dill, Joyce Ruark, Martha Sue Fanning and Patsy Pardo. He is survived by his 5 children. Janna Ruark, Michael Ruark, Larry Ruark, Lori Lea Sons, Lisa Lynn Harp.
He was affectionately known as Grandpa Grumpy by his grandchildren. Emily Grabowski, Anna Bonello, Olivia Sons and Ryan Ruark. And three great granddaughters who call him Happy Pappi.
