Allen Devore Obituary
AIKEN, SC - Mr. Allen
Truman Devore, 81, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday in the Shellhouse Funeral Home chapel with the Reverend Dr. Henry Chennault officiating. Interment with full U.S. Air Force honors will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Mr. Devore was born in Edgefield County, a son of the late James Walker and Rosa Allen Devore. Mr. Devore retired from the US Air Force, was a member of the VFW, and had been a resident of Aiken since 1971.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia C. McClure Devore; two daughters, Ramona P. Baker, Nashville, NC, Janice (David) Koonce, Homestead, FL; a son, Ralph A. (Jean) Parker, Lawton, OK; six grandchildren, Timothy Baker, Rodney Baker, Christina Gardner, Matthew Parker, Melinda K. Desoto, David Koonce, II; nine great grandchildren, Ashley Hagwood, Samantha Baker, Megan Aycock, Mattison Parker, Neelie Parker, Joshua Baker, Nicholas Baker, Desiree Desoto, Demi Desoto; three sisters, Barbara (Marvin) Langley, Edgefield, Ruth (Larry) Satcher, Johnston, Martha Jester, N. Augusta; a sister in law, Louise Devore, Edgefield.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Joanne Gardner, James Devor, Bill Bledsoe and Richard Bledsoe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Connie Maxwell Children's Home, 810 Maxwell Ave, Greenwood, SC 29646.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 PM Tuesday evening SHELLHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 924 HAYNE AVE., AIKEN, SC.
