Kay Boulware Obituary

Ms. Kay Bumgarner Boulware, age 81, of Denver, NC, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Stanley Total Living Center in Stanley, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00–2:00 PM on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Bratton Funeral Home, 1455 Filbert Hwy., York, SC 29745. A memorial service celebrating Kay's life will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, with burial at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC. Born on April 22, 1944, in Gaston County, NC, Kay was the daughter of the late Paul H. Bumgarner and Ruby Duncan Bumgarner. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and trips to the mountains. Above all, she cherished her children and grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. Kay is survived by her children, Matt Boulware (Tracy), Michael Boulware (Heather), Chris Boulware (Debbie), Paula Coe, and Brad Boulware; her grandchildren, Jenna Coe, Ryan Coe, Alec Boulware, Meghan Boulware, and Zachary Boulware; and her brother, Roger Bumgarner (Levenia). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Boulware, and her sisters, Janie Bumgarner and Brenda Phillips. Memorials in Kay's memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 128 S. Tryon St. #1588, Charlotte, NC 28202.
