Roderick Smith Obituary

Roderick G. Smith, 89, of Ruffs Dale, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Mountain View Memory Care in Greensburg. He was born Dec. 9, 1935, in Yukon. Son of the late George L. and Charlotte J. (McCune) Smith. He graduated from the former Sewickley Township High School. Rod worked and retired as a semi-truck driver for International Paper after 34 years of service. He also worked for Mill Service and Fisher Body. He was a member of the Wendel Athletic Association, Mt. Pleasant Firehall, and Hempfield Hunt Club. Rod loved riding motorcycles, enjoyed hunting and camping, and was a big NASCAR fan. He enjoyed tinkering in the garage and running his bulldozer, helping to build additions and homes for his family. In his younger years, he helped deliver milk and worked for a local plumber. He was preceded in death by both parents; son, Kerry G. "Georgie" Smith; brothers, James Smith, Geary Smith, Jack Smith, and Denny Keim; and sister, Nanette Trimbath. He is survived by his loving wife, Priscilla G. (Gramlich) Smith of Ruffs Dale; son, Charles (Cris) Smith of Jeannette, and Rod Alan (Tina) Smith of Mountain Top; brother, Bart (Pat) Smith of FL; grandchildren, Mark (Tanya) Weston of Mountain Top, Brittany (Troy) Fortunato of Long Valley, NJ, Zachariah (Jane) Smith of Las Vegas, NV, Carlene (Nate) Moore of Yankton, SD, Katelyn Smith, Madeline (fiance, Tyler Mathias), and Samuel Smith; and great-grandchildren, Daniel and Elijah Weston, Mila and Madden Fortunato, and Bodie Smith. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2025, at BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 136, Madison, PA 15663 Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2025, at the funeral home, with Pastor Paul Harman officiating. Interment will follow at the Madison Union Cemetery in Madison.
