Jane Taylor Obituary

Taylor, Jane Parkford
October 14, 1934 to September 25, 2017
After a long battle with lung cancer, Newport Beach resident Jane Parkford Taylor died Monday September 25, 2017 just short of her 83rd birthday.
Born Barbara Jane Rachael Rina Spero in London, England to Dorothy Lingley (died 1990 California) and Samuel Sidney Spero (died England 1937). She immigrated to Los Angeles in 1938 with her mother and younger sister Pamela Rankin of San Diego fleeing the impeding war in Europe.
Jane graduated Hollywood High School in December, 1951 and married Geoffrey Leigh Parkford of Los Angeles. They had four children Stephen, Linda, Kenneth and Heather. Jane returned to school in 1965 and served as nurse for 12 years.
In October 1971 Jane's life changed forever when she packed up her four kids and began a twelve- month European odyssey in a yellow VW Pop Top Camper. This unforgettable trip through nearly every country in Europe, England and north Africa began her life-long love of travel.
In 1989 Jane and Richard Taylor were married and over the years they traveled the world together frequently including friends and family on her journeys. Among Jane's favorite visits were to the Galapagos Islands, Botswana, Russia, London and to her beloved Maui hide-away. Last spring, despite declining health, Jane and daughter Heather toured Japan. It was her final and reportedly best trip ever. At last count, Jane had visited all seven continents, 102 countries and US states with only India not checked off of her bucket list.
Jane was active with Hoag Hospital and the Pacific Symphony. Jane's legacy is broad. She leaves behind her husband, Richard; her sister, Pamela; three of her four children; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and of course her dog.
