William Parker Obituary

William A. Parker

Titusville, FL

William A. Parker, Sr., 82, of Titusville, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Edward Poe Hospice Care Center.  Bill was born in St Louis, MO and moved to Florida at the beginning of the space program.

He retired in 1989 after a 31-year career with NASA that spanned the entire manned space program, from Mercury to the Space Shuttle, as Division Chief of Quality Assurance.  A longtime member of Indian River City United Methodist Church, and diehard St Louis Cardinals fan, his greatest joy in life was his family.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, James Keith. Bill is survived by his lovely bride of 60 years, Joan; his son, William Jr (Cindi); daughters, Sharon Kramer (Jeff) and Ann-Marie Parker (Jondavid DuVall); grandchildren, Brandon Parker (Rachel); Matthew Parker (Heather); Hayley Rozier (Dan); Scott Kramer; Andrew Kramer; Erin DuVall; Parker DuVall; and great-grandson, Jackson Parker.

A memorial service will be held at IRC United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 8th at 10:30 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to IRC UMC. Please sign Bill's guestbook at www.northbrevardfuneralhome.com

I have known and worked with Bill since the early days of Gemini in Spacecraft Operations.....always very professional and always a gentleman. Bill was well liked by his peers and co-workers at the Cape.

I came down from St Louis and worked with Bill on Mercury and through all the Manned Space programs. Bill was always a gentleman and fair in his dealings with others. He always had a smile and we shared a lots of laughs through the years. He leaves a big void filled with good memories. My thoughts and prayers are with all the family.

I am so sorry for the loss of such an especially strong man. For God's word says: "The span of our life is 70 years, or 80 if one is especially strong." Psalms 90:10
